There Is More

Obedience competition will challenge your training skills, and agility is great fun, but there is still more you can do with your dog. If he is of a herding breed, he can learn to work sheep and compete for titles. If he's a terrier bred to hunt vermin, he can participate in earthdog trials, going down a tunnel to find a caged rat (which is not harmed by the way). Dogs with good scenting abilities can learn to track. Those dogs bred to work and be protective can train and compete in Schutzhund trials, which test the dog in tracking, obedience, and protection. If you enjoy training and having fun with your dog, check out some of these sports and see which one would suit you (and your dog) best.
